Icecream PDF Split & Merge is one of those applications that lack the flashy appearance or the loud name of an alternative product, but actually feel a lot more useful than most of well-known programs of their type.
This program does exactly what the name suggests - splits and merges your PDF files. It installs fast and offers a very pretty and simple interface, looking much like a standard OS design, but a bit more homely, for lack of a better word. Icecream PDF Split and Merge is just pleasant to look at.

Functionality doesn't disappoint as well. There are two main sections available from the main window: Split and Merge. After uploading the files you need, you can split any documents into files containing the number of pages you need down to single-page files, extract and delete specific pages you don't want. There are several alternative modes and scenarios for splitting, letting you tailor any document to your specific needs. What I found very appealing was that the menus with options were right under the upload bar instead of some side menus you have to navigate. Simplicity suits this program well. Merging works even better, as there are no limitations to the number of files you can merge or their size. Also, not only the file name or size are displayed in the upload window, but the actual number of pages as well. It's strange that many other programs of this kind miss this little detail.

One of the most interesting features of Icecream PDF Split and Merge is the ability to bypass password protection in order to edit the file by splitting and merging. It doesn't let you access the contents, but helps you change the size and structure, which can be very handy.
Another feature worth mentioning is the built-in PDF reader that lets you see the results and navigate the files for proper splitting and merging. It's not very extensive, but can be useful.

If we're talking about personal experiences, I found Icecream PDF Split and Merge to be the prettiest most useful applications I have ever used. It makes PDF editing a lot easier, it's fast and very, very functional. I just love programs that hold their own without becoming to gloss and too bloated fith functions their purpose doesn't require. This is a cute, small and genuinely cool tool.
